Fancy Popcorn

Exotically seasoned popcorn is always a nice non-satiating appetizer before a meal. Just to keep people satisfied and not so famished while the dinner is in prep mode. Here’s a recipe for the welcoming popcorn I served at our French cooking class last Friday.

Maple Orange Just in Thyme Popcorn Serves 8

2 microwave bags popcorn, I use organic. 2 tablespoons butter 2 tablespoons olive oil 1 tablespoon Herbs de Provence seasoning, substitution: blend thyme, oregano and lavender zest of half an orange, microplaned 2 teaspoons maple syrup coarse kosher or course sea salt for seasoning Freshly ground pepper, optional

  1. In a small sauté pan, heat 2 tablespoons butter with 2 tablespoons olive oil.

  2. Once the butter has melted, add the Herbs de Provence, orange rind and maple syrup.

  3. Swirl the pan until heated through and combined, maybe a minute.

  4. Pour over popcorn and toss until most is covered.

  5. Say mmmmmmmmm.
